Enhancing the Countryside

As farmers around the UK begin to plan a future under the Single Farm Payment (SFP), it gives a great opportunity for them to review what they are doing and to consider the benefits of managing the farm with a view to increasing the biodiversity and to help the environment.

The new Environmental Stewardship Scheme covers field margins, boundary strips, and conservation headlands, which will be financially rewarded under this new scheme. There are two levels, the entry level and higher-level stewardship scheme, both of which will have management rules and some seed sowing requirements.
