A brand new LG guide to the performance of forage crops has just been published and the information available will help livestock farmers to make the most of the individual crops they grow in 2012. - The guide covers 5 of the major forage crops – fodder beet; kale; stubble turnips; forage rape and swedes. For each crop featured there is data provided on total dry matter/fresh yield as well as figures relating to disease resistance. There is also a financial value placed against each variety included in the trials programme and this provides farmers with the opportunity to select the ones which will deliver the optimum performance. The Crop Summary which appears in the booklet will give you an overview on all the main forage crops grown in the UK at the moment. NEW MAIZE & GRASS SILAGE GUIDE

A very informative guide to the management of maize and grass crops earmarked for silage has recently been published by Farm Business magazine.
